Professional Biography of Melissa

Melissa joined the Coutts team in 2022 working as a Senior Associate in our Commercial Law & Litigation and Employment Law teams, based in our Campbelltown Office. In 2023, Melissa was promoted to Head of the Commercial Litigation department.

Melissa has extensive experience in the areas of Civil Disputes & Litigation, Building and Construction Disputes, Commercial Litigation & Employment Law for both corporate clients and individuals.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Commerce (Majoring in Marketing), Graduate Law Diploma from the College of Law; and has been admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia.

Melissa has over 12 years experience and is committed to helping her clients resolve their disputes by ensuring that they understand the process and that they have options to achieve an outcome that doesn’t always require the matter to proceed to Court. In addition to being well versed in preparing for court hearings in litigation matters and being a proficient advocate, Melissa excels in representing clients during settlement negotiations as she prides herself on providing clients with practical alternatives.

Melissa’s skill set means that she can assist clients from the start of a dispute through to litigation in a range of courts and Tribunals. Melissa communicates clearly with her clients in a language that they can understand and is confident in her ability to resolve legal issues in an efficient and cost-effective way to achieve favourable outcomes for her clients.

Outside of the office, Melissa enjoys shopping, reading, going to musicals and hanging out with friends and family.
