During your first appointment with us, our lawyers will have an open and honest discussion with you regarding fees to ensure you understand our fee structure and what is involved with your matter. For some services this will be a fixed fee cost but at other times there might be another basis on which fees are calculated for your matter.
Here is a small rundown of the different fee structures:
This is where our fees are based on an hourly rate for services performed. When basing our fees on an hourly basis it is important to note that emails, calls and anything that our staff will need to action in relation to your matter would be billed. A detailed, itemized bill will be given to you showing all work done on your matter.
On a fixed fee basis, your legal fee is fixed for agreed upon services. If anything falls out of the scope of the agreed upon services, our lawyers will advise you before proceeding any further.
Our “No Win, No Fee” Policy means that if you don’t win your case then we won’t charge you for our legal fees. That is, if the claim is unsuccessful we do not get paid.
A pre-payment will often be required in order to begin to process your matter and you will be kept advised as to how that pre-payment is being used. We may also need extra payments to be made along the way to cover things like filing fees etc. Invoices will be sent to you periodically showing your charges and payments.
We try to keep legal fees as cost effective as possible whilst providing you with expert advice and solutions. We also know that life can get in the way and we try to be as flexible as possible so if you have any issues with fees please speak to your lawyer.
