Professional Biography of Carolyn

Carolyn Shiels joined the Coutts Lawyers & Conveyancers team in 2024 as Special Counsel for Criminal and Family Law.

Carolyn worked for more than 27 years as a criminal prosecution lawyer, moving her to practice in both Criminal Law and Family Law in her independent practice. With a strong reputation for her signature mix of experience, knowledge, compassion and humour, Carolyn is the perfect addition to the Coutts team, joining the Criminal Law division.

With a passion for Criminal Law and Advocacy, and with over 36 years experience in the challenge that is the court room, Carolyn’s deep expertise in criminal law matters allows her to navigate complex legal matters with precision. She has to ability to review a brief of evidence and identify the issues and negotiate the progression of the matter through the court.

When not representing clients in court, Carolyn spends her time with her family and pets, riding her horse, gardening and walking in the beautiful Wollondilly Shire.
